Phil Hellmuth decided to extend their triumphal entries beyond the WSOP, and attended the Day 1B of the WPT Venice in a big way.
Hellmuth arrived at the Casino di Venezia Ca Vendramin Calergi looking like a character out of an opera - carried in a gondola, wearing mask, black cape, cane and silver, as always, surrounded by their Royal Flush Girls.
Phil Hellmuth:
As usual, Hellmuth arrived late during the second blind level - the one in which he played during his brief participation in the event, interrupted with elimination at the hands of Fernando Cimaglia.
Cimaglia ended the day as chip leader with 175,000 chips. With that, he started the day 2 with the second best stack, behind only Stephen Behm, with 188,000.
Among the leaders at the start of day 2 will also be Marvni Rettenmaier, who advanced with 129,600 chips on Day 1A.
